ADM Still Green

Ethanol Stocks January 30th, 2008

Not many clean green stocks have held up very well lately within the market downturn, but ADM is holding its own.

Whats going on in this chart is a few things.
-TRIX is up.
-Williams %R is holding above 50 line.
-Price pierced upper BB and found support at the middle point aka 20ema.

I think ADM is a decent trade here with a stop at around 37.5-37.6

DWS Scudder Launches Climate Change Fund

Mutual Funds January 21st, 2008

DWS Scudder launched a Green fund recently. Symbol: WRMAX. They call it the Climate Change Fund - snazzy marketing.

Kiplinger magazine has some complaints in regards to their fees. The fees are hefty.

They point out two funds we have listed here for awhile.

Winslow Green Growth (WGGFX) and Guinness Atkinson Alternative Energy (GAAEX) which are both no load funds.

Converted Organics

Fertilizer Stocks January 14th, 2008

I’ve been in and out of a micro cap organic fertilizer company lately called Converted Organics. I currently own it. COIN is the symbol and its been absolutely flying lately. Its not something to buy fresh here, but I wanted to bring it up as a stock to watch in case it pulls back.

Converted Organics, Inc., a development stage company, intends to manufacture, sell, and distribute natural soil amendment products combining nutritional and disease suppression characteristics. It uses organic food waste as raw material to manufacture soil amendment products. Converted Organics plans to sell and distribute these products in the agribusiness, turf management, and retail markets.

COIN Breaking upwards

Stocks that act like this tend to have further upside. Considerably so, but it could come much later down the road or the move can be immediate. However, if there was a sweet spot for this business it is now.

Check out their website and keep COIN on your radar.

Does the cost of Natural Gas affect the cost to produce organic fertilizer in anyway? I’ve been trying to research this online, but haven’t found the right info yet.

Clean Stocks Breaking Upwards

Energy Efficiency Stocks, Lighting Stocks, Solar Stocks, Wind Power Stocks December 29th, 2007

Aside from the crazy ones that have moved lately like ASTI today, the Ethanol stocks have all had nice two and three week runs (VSE, PEIX, USBE, ANDE, MGPI), and SOLF and CSUN lately in the China solar arena. Lets check out some some of the forgotten ones. Well at least forgotten over the last month or so.

CREE

TSL

ELON

AKNS

I would also take a look at COMV and ITRI. I’m looking for pullbacks in the major alt-energy etf’s because the big solar names FSLR look more like short term sells rather than new buys. ZOLT might have a little room to the upside too.
